Carolyn Sue Fields

Carolina Sue Hall was born on October 22, 1944 in Van Vleck, Texas to John Alleniece, Sr. and Maurine George. She was affectionately nicknamed Beverly Ann by her older siblings, which after a while was shortened to Bev. A name that would follow her throughout her life. Bev was reared in the Van Vleck community, attending and graduating from O.H. Herman High School. Soon after graduating she married Ellis Griggs, Jr. To this union three children were born: Michelle, Maurice & Gaybriell. After her first marriage, Bev was searching for something, and she found everything in Jesus. She began her Christian walk at Mother Zion in Houston, Texas. She would later join Powerhouse Church of God in Christ in Sweeny under the leadership of J.B. Allen. Sister Bev was all in. Later in life she would meet and marry Walter Fields, Jr., and they had one son, Jonathan.

Bev was employed at Jumbo’s Supermarket as the manager of the bakery. She was very talented in cake decorating and even after leaving the bakery she was often sought out for birthday and wedding cakes by family and friends. She was later blessed with a job at TDCJ in the mailroom and became the supervisor, from where she retired. Bev was a beacon of light to many she met throughout her life. She loved sharing the love of Jesus through the Word. Almost daily she would send out encouraging texts to family and friends until her health began to fail. And even then if you saw her, she still had a Word because she had hidden the Word in her heart. Although she never joined she began attending Brazoria First Assembly of God where she truly enjoyed the fellowship. She loved the worship and continued to thrive in her relationship with her Father.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, John Alleniece, Sr. and Maurine George, and her siblings: Valrey, Beatrice, Sammie Lee, Inez, Rosemary, Mary, Tina, Alonzo and John. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Michelle Drew, Maurice Griggs, Gaybriell Simmons (Cleo), Jonathan Fields (Jami), her grandchildren: Gary Higgins II (Chloe), Garrett Higgins, Thurmesia Pinkney, Tarian Pinkney (Kaleigh), Craig Bell, Jr., Cayla, Ferguson (Justin), Anthony Drew, Maurice Griggs, II, Marquiss Griggs, Kaitlyn Fields, Matai Griggs, Hannah Herbert, Maria Griggs, Jeremiah Fields, Kellen Fields, her great grandchildren: Olivia Higgins, Jocelyn Higgins, Gary Higgins, III, Nadelyn Pinkney, Camri Bell, Amari Ferguson, Tarian Pinkney, Jr., Rhema Ferguson, Gabriel Ferguson, Sister: Irma Abbott, Stepbrother: Roosevelt George, Stepsister: Edna May George, Godchildren: Fanisha, Lanisha and Heather, Special loves: Angela Joseph, Enid Thomas and John Tillman, Special nephew: Clayton Fields, Best Friend: Linda Griggs and a host
