Deacon Clemon Charles Williams (“C.C.”)
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; II Timothy 4:7
Clemon Charles Williams was born on August 3, 1949, to Charlie and Veola Marie Williams. He grew up in Brazoria, Texas, and graduated from Sweeny High School in 1967 as part of its first integrated class—a milestone reflecting both change and progress. He later attended Wharton County Junior College, completing coursework in Applied Science with a focus in Drafting Technology. Clemon built a distinguished career in engineering and construction, working for Fluor Engineering, Litwin E&C, Raytheon, ABB, Mustang Engineering, and Wood Group. Through dedication and leadership, he rose to oversee hundreds of employees and remained committed to his work until retiring in 2021. In the early 1980s, Clemon began his journey as an entrepreneur, operating a business specializing in office supplies and furniture. For over 15 years, he faithfully served companies throughout the Galveston, Clear Lake, and Houston areas, taking pride in his work and in providing for his family. Clemon impacted countless lives through his profession, community, church, and family. He was a God-fearing man—quiet yet powerful. His words carried wisdom, his presence commanded respect, and he rarely left a room without sharing a joke or giving someone a nickname. Above all, he loved the Lord wholeheartedly. Baptized at a young age, Clemon joined Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon, trustee, and member of various ministries, including hospital and home visitation. He was a proud member and coordinator of the Voices of Zion and served as Vice President of the Southern District Association Mass Choir. He loved serving the Lord with dedication and sincerity.Music was one of Clemon’s greatest passions. An outstanding gospel quartet baritone, he sang with Soulful Chants, Vocalaires, and the Sensational Clouds of Zion. Through song, he traveled throughout Houston and surrounding areas, ministering and praising God. Singing was more than a gift—it was part of his ministry. On November 5, 1988, Clemon was diagnosed with a brain tumor the size of a grapefruit. Following emergency surgery, he faced the possibility of paralysis and loss of basic abilities. His recovery required relearning everyday tasks such as walking and personal care. Yet through every challenge, he never lost his faith. He trusted God in every season and pressed forward with courage and resilience. In 1972, Clemon met the love of his life, Lillie, and on October 26, 1974, they were united in marriage. Together they built a strong foundation rooted in faith, love, and commitment. They were blessed with three children: Crystal, Christopher, and Ciara. Clemon was a devoted husband and father—provider, protector, and steady presence. His marriage reflected support, respect, and unwavering devotion, and his love for his family will continue for generations. Clemon was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Veola Marie Williams; his brother, Roosevelt Williams; his sister, Shirley Ford; and his brother-in-law, Harold Flannel. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Lillie Williams; his loving children, Crystal Williams, Christopher Williams, and Ciara Washington (Michael); his treasured grandson, Micah; his dear sisters, Charlene Moore (Elvan) and Anita Flannel; his brother-in- law, Ronnie Ford; his Godbrother, Lee Odis Simple (Beth); his Godchildren, Willie Moore Jr. and Iyana Williams; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
